About:
TuxKart is a 3D GoKart racing game with several
famous OpenSource mascots participating. The
game uses PLIB and OpenGL, and is portable to a
wide range of OS's. There are several racecourses
provided, with full information on how to add your
own. Except for a few minor details, this game is
essentially complete, and very playable.

Potentially Brilliant
by Giles - Dec 3rd 2002 19:28:53
Plays *very* fast with nice slick and colorful graphics on my RedHat 8.0
box.
Unfortunately, about 4 or 5 of the tracks are buggy as hell with asorted
weird things happening during play - the most annoying of these being when
you suddenly drop through apparently solid track and can't get back onto
it. On the first level, Tux Tollway, I find that I drop through the track
instantly, and continue to fall down, and down, and down.... meaning I
can't play this track altogether.
So to recap, this is shaping up to be an awesome game - almost as good as
Mario Kart itself, but at the moment, with the amount of buggy tracks
included, it is essentially unplayable. I don't know whether these bugs are
Redhat-centric, as the game seems to prefer a Mandrake distro, but for the
multitude of RedHat users out there - treat this as a technology preview
until the next version....
