great software
by ovacikar - May 5th 2004 13:01:43
I installed Mailscanner along with clamav on a Pentium II - 64 MB ram linux
box and its doing great job for my company, about 60 users, scanning both
inbound and outbound mail traffic for Lotus Notes.
The built-in SPAM checking based on online RBL lists was so efficient that
i didnt need SpamAssasin at all.

Top Shelf!!
by Tom Jackson - Feb 20th 2004 06:51:42
This is an outstanding package. Running on Redhat ES 3.0 no problem. Can be
installed in under 5 mins out-of-the-box. Just install a virus program,
make a small change in the MailScanner.conf file and your done!Take a look
on the pricing on an enterprise class scanner (Very expensive).
Great job.. Top shelf

Outstanding package
by 451422 - Jun 4th 2003 20:42:16
I must say this is an outstanding package that does exactly as the theme
states. I am very pleased with the results I have attained. The solution
for SPAM is now at hand. Thanks, Julian! There aren't many packages like
this today.

Absolutely - an ocean of calm compared with the living hell of AmAviS.
The only slight downer is that the author seems to be holding back on the
old documentation, and support in general is pretty thin. A poor FAQ, no
mailing list(!) and advanced customisation completely undocumented (well,
there is the source...).
But more power to their commercial services I suppose... Mustn't grumble.

Perfect!
by fcaen - Jul 18th 2002 17:19:10
This program is amazing: it is a perfect example of good open-source
development. It installs flawlessly, is very well documented, and works
beautifully. Julian, the maintainer, replies to all the questions on the
mailing list.
THANK YOU!

Sex on toast - Keep it up
by Rishi Gangoly - Jan 27th 2002 09:01:14
This is really great. For a non-programmer type of person like me, it took
hardly any time to install, intergrate.
I did not RTFM and so thus got screwed in one section.
I used it with FREE f-prot and its great. The SPAM filter is also pretty
awesome.
Just download this and plug it into your system.

ah, thanks...
note that this is actually "beta software", not
"free"... it looks like they intend to charge for it once it's
out of the beta-testing stage

I've tested before Amavis, but now I am
delighted about MailScanner. I simply recommend
it! I am using Slackware 9.1.0, Postfix-2.0.18
and after I've turned on MailScanner+ClamAV
+SpamAssassin, most of the problems went off.
Great job, congratulations to the author!

Great tool
by Jeff - Jan 4th 2002 13:17:25
I am very impressed at this tool. In less than a day we were able to remove
over 1500 viruses from our incoming mail. It was easy to setup and easier
to use. Simply plug it in and it goes.

Installed on our mail systems today, installation worked without any
problems, it just started working. Never seen something as easy to
implement and functioning as great as MailScanner.

MailScanner
by Norm - Nov 16th 2001 14:28:00
We have battled with SirCam, Nimda, etc as you have. This program snips
them and informs all parties. It is really acting as a front line of
defense. I installed it on a test server and then our production server in
one evening. It actually worked without a hitch. (Emails with attachments
will be delayed, but it's worth it for a clean email system)
As a small college with only 3 in the IT Dept this program makes us look
good.

Installed on two RH Linux boxes flawlessly, except
for embarassing operator errors. This software started working
out-of-the-box with zero problems. Very impressive.

MailScanner implementation
by Jeffrey A. Clark - Sep 24th 2001 15:34:33
This product went in flawlessly. From nothing, to fully functional in about
4 hours, on a Solaris 8 server. Just an outstanding piece of software!
